Privacy & data

Last updated 18 July 2026

Your family’s schedule is private. Here’s exactly what we collect, why, where it lives, and the control you have.

Who we are

Kalends is operated by WiredBridge (“we”), the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at [email protected].

What we collect

  • Account — your household email and a securely hashed password.
  • Family members — the names/initials and colours you add for the people in your household.
  • Your calendar data — events you create and the calendars you choose to connect (titles, times, locations, notes), plus chores, meal plans and pocket-money records.
  • Connected accounts — when you connect Apple iCloud, an app-specific password you generate (used to read the calendars you select and to write back events you create on your wall display) and the resulting calendar data.
  • Device & technical — device identifiers for your wall display/phones, app version, and basic diagnostics needed to keep sync working.
  • Billing & subscriptions — if you subscribe, your payment is processed by Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), or, for a direct purchase, Stripe or Revolut — they handle your card. We store only your plan, subscription status, and the provider’s reference IDs (your purchase history with us), never card numbers.
  • Paywall choices — when onboarding shows plan options, we record the assigned copy variant and whether you continue with Free or choose Plus. This is first-party measurement tied to your account; we do not send it to advertising networks.
  • Wait-list — if you join the wait-list, just your email.

Why we use it (lawful basis)

  • To provide the service (performance of our contract with you) — syncing calendars, chores and dinners across your devices.
  • Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure, diagnosing faults, preventing abuse, and measuring which plan explanation helps households make an informed choice.
  • Consent — optional things like connecting iCloud, the wait-list, or sharing a support diagnostic bundle. You can withdraw consent at any time.

We never sell your data, and we don’t use your family’s schedule for advertising or ad-tracking.

Where your data is stored

Your data is hosted on servers in the European Union. Connected-calendar data also resides with that provider (e.g. Apple) under their own terms.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your household account is active. When you ask to delete your account it is scheduled for erasure after a 30-day recovery window — within those 30 days you can sign back in and cancel to keep your account. After the window we permanently erase your personal data from our live systems, and it then rolls out of backups on our normal backup cycle. Wait-list emails are kept until you ask us to remove them or we launch and invite you.

Your rights

Under UK/EU data protection law you can:

  • Access — get a copy of your data.
  • Rectify — correct anything wrong.
  • Erase — delete your account and personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Port — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Restrict / object — limit how we process it.
  • Withdraw consent — e.g. disconnect iCloud or leave the wait-list.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We’ll verify it’s you and respond within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you’re unhappy.

Export or delete your data, yourself

You don’t have to email us — both are built into the app, from Settings → Account:

  • Export my data — downloads a single JSON file containing your household profile, family members, events, chores, meal plans and subscription status (your portable copy). It never includes passwords or your connected-account credentials.
  • Delete account — re-enter your password to confirm. This signs you out everywhere and schedules permanent erasure of your whole household after a 30-day recovery window. Change your mind? Sign back in within 30 days and choose Cancel deletion.

Who we share it with

  • Apple iCloud — to read the calendars you connect and write back events you create on your wall display; revoke access any time from your Apple ID.
  • Payment providers — Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) for in-app purchases, and Stripe or Revolut for direct card purchases, to take payment and renew subscriptions. See our Terms of Use for auto-renewal, trial and cancellation details.
  • Hosting / infrastructure — the EU provider that runs our servers, under a data-processing agreement.

How we protect it

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed, and sensitive credentials such as your connected-account app-specific password are encrypted at rest. We limit who can access systems and keep audit trails.

Children

Kalends is set up and managed by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the family members they add. It isn’t aimed at children signing up on their own.

Cookies

This website uses only the essential storage needed to function. We don’t run advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Changes

We’ll update this page when our practices change and revise the “last updated” date above. Questions? [email protected].
