Common questions

Frequently asked

The quick answers families ask us most.

How do I connect my iCloud calendar?
You connect Apple Calendar with an app-specific password generated from your Apple ID — never your main Apple password. Sign in at appleid.apple.com, open Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords, generate one named “Kalends”, and paste the xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx code. You can revoke it at any time, which immediately cuts our access. We read the calendars you choose, and events you add on the wall sync back to the iCloud calendar you picked.
Can I connect Google Calendar too?
Yes. On the Calendars page tap Connect Google and sign in with Google’s secure consent screen — Kalends never sees your Google password. You can connect both iCloud and Google accounts side by side and assign each calendar to a family member.
What screen can I use as a wall display?
The wall display runs on any Android touch device — a spare tablet, a wall-mounted display, or a dedicated photo-frame-style screen. No rooting or jailbreaking required. Browser-only displays can open kalends.app/wall full-screen, then pair with the code shown. See Wall display for setup tips.
How fast does Kalends sync between devices?
Changes flow two ways and usually appear on the wall and everyone’s phones within seconds. If something looks stale, open Calendars and tap Sync on the connected account, or pull to refresh in the app. If an account shows “reauth needed”, reconnect with a fresh app-specific password.
What’s included in the free trial?
Kalends Plus comes with a 7-day free trial — the full household experience with no limits. After the trial it’s £6.99/month or £59.99/year (saving about 28%). There’s also a Free tier to keep using at £0. Compare them on the Pricing page, and cancel any time at least 24 hours before your trial ends.
How do chores and pocket money work?
Assign chores to family members, tick them off as they’re done, and the app tallies the pocket money owed per child. Paying out is always a parent action, so nothing is settled without your say-so.
How do I invite my partner and kids?
Add each person to your household with their own colour, then send an invite by email or share the invite link. They open it on their phone, tap “I have an invite code”, and join your household. Invites can be targeted to a specific member (for example Son or Daughter) so the right name shows up straight away.
Is my family’s data private?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit, hosted in the EU, and never sold. We only store what’s needed to keep your calendars in sync — your Apple ID password is never kept, and you can export or delete your household data at any time. Read the full Privacy & data page for details.
